# Is the MW4 Vault Edition worth it? > The Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4 costs $30 more than the standard edition. What the extra buys, what every pre-purchase gets anyway, and who it suits. The Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 costs $99.99, $30 more than the standard edition at $69.99.[^1] Here's what the extra $30 buys, what every digital pre-purchase gets anyway, and who each edition suits. Prices and contents come from the game's store page, checked on 21 October 2026. ## The short answer Buy the Vault Edition if you'd pay for the first season's battle pass anyway and want Price, Ghost and the other Operator skins. Everyone else can buy the standard edition, which has the same game and the same modes. Early access comes with any digital pre-purchase, so the Vault Edition doesn't get you in sooner.[^1] ## What the Vault Edition adds - **Hostile Alliance Operator Pack**, four Operator skins: Price, Valeria, Ghost and Blix. - **Special Forces Operator Pack**, four Operator skins representing the United Kingdom, Germany, France and South Korea, each with a voice pack in its own language. - **Signature Weapon Collection**, five Signature Weapons. - **BlackCell for one season**, which includes the Battle Pass, 20 tier skips and 1,100 CP. It unlocks when the Season 1 Battle Pass arrives in the game and covers that season only. - **DMZ Deployment Bonus**, extra bonus content in DMZ.[^1] ## What every digital pre-purchase gets - Early access to the campaign from 16 October and to DMZ from 20 October. - The Inner Circuit Weapon Blueprint at launch. - The Hunter Killer Operator Skin and the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack, which also work now in Black Ops 7 and Warzone.[^1] ## Is the extra $30 worth it? Most of the value sits in BlackCell. The Battle Pass and its tier skips only pay off if you play through the first season, and the 1,100 CP are spending money for the in-game store. In Black Ops 7's store, 1,000 CP with 100 bonus CP cost $9.99.[^2] If Modern Warfare 4's points sell at the same price, the CP covers about a third of the extra $30, and the rest pays for the battle pass, the eight Operator skins, the five weapons and the DMZ bonus. **It suits** players who buy the battle pass every season and play multiplayer or DMZ for months. **Skip it** if you're buying for the campaign, play for a few weeks, or never pay for a battle pass. The standard edition has the same game, the same modes and the same early access. ## Ways to pay less - Players who own and have played a recent Call of Duty on the same store account got 10% off the Vault Edition when they pre-purchased, until launch day on 23 October 2026. The qualifying games are Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, Modern Warfare II (2022), Modern Warfare III (2023), Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7. - If you've already bought the standard edition, the store sells a Vault Edition upgrade for $30.[^1] ## What players say so far As of 28 October 2026, 76% of Modern Warfare 4's 9,589 player reviews recommend it.[^1] The reviews we have read come from early access, which opened the campaign on 16 October and DMZ on 20 October, and few of them mention the edition they bought.
