Player reception

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2

Cold Iron’s co-op sequel still delivers the bug hunts players enjoyed in the first game, and most of the reviews they find most helpful call it too close to it for $49.99.

In short

As of 12 October, 61% of 3,707 player reviews recommend it. Players enjoy the co-op shooting, the class builds and the horde fights with friends. The reviews players find most helpful mostly advise against it, finding a game too close to the first one at a higher price, with bugs that stop missions, stutter at launch and dialogue many mute. Aliens fans with a regular squad get the most from it, and many suggest waiting for a sale.

It feels like the first game again.
Players find the core loop, maps and classes largely reused, with a fourth player, the Specialist class and stacking challenge cards as the main additions. Many call it DLC-sized.105
The co-op still works.
Players who recommend it praise the gunplay, the class builds and the horde fights with friends, and many play for those alone.105
Bugs stop missions.
Doors that shut teammates out, items that won’t pick up and soft-locks force players to quit missions. Some persist in the latest reviews after Patch 2 and Hotfix 3.105108109
Stutter marked the launch.
Launch-week players on strong PCs report heavy stutter during loads and in the prologue, while others ran it smoothly. The latest reviews mention it less, and crashes still come up.105108
Many mute the dialogue.
Players find the jokes and voice lines grating and repetitive, and several turn the voices off.105
The price is the main barrier.
Most who hold back name $49.99, and the prices they’d pay mostly fall between $20 and $40.105
