GTA 6 pre-load and launch: what Rockstar has confirmed

Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.^1,2 Everything below comes from Rockstar's own pages and the two console stores, checked on 1 November 2026. When can you pre-load GTA 6?

Pre-loading opens at midnight local time on 12 November 2026, a week before launch. Anyone with a digital pre-order can pre-load, and so can anyone who redeems the code from a physical copy, which goes on sale the same day.¹ PlayStation's store lists a seven-day pre-load with both editions.²

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar hasn't announced a launch time. It gives the pre-load as local midnight and the release as 19 November, and neither console store lists an hour.^1,2,3 We'll add the time here once Rockstar confirms it.

How big is the download?

Rockstar and the console stores haven't published a download size yet. The physical box holds only a download code, so every player needs the space free, whichever version they buy.¹

Is there a disc?

There's no disc. The physical version is a box with a download code inside, and it's sold only as the Standard Edition. Physical buyers can add the Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the PlayStation or Microsoft store once they've redeemed the code.¹

Editions and prices

• Standard Edition, $79.99. The game.²
• Ultimate Edition, $99.99. The game and the Ultimate Edition Upgrade.² Its items are threaded through Jason and Lucia's story and turn up chapter by chapter. They include a '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, Jason's safehouse vehicles, a classic car collection, two mod shops, a salon, a clothing store and a tattoo parlour.¹

Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade on its own at any time.¹

What do pre-orders get?

Digital pre-orders of either edition made before 20 November include the Vintage Vice City Pack, with a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage, outfits and hairstyles and an exclusive weapon pattern. They also come with one month of GTA+.¹ On PlayStation that month can be claimed until 31 March and then renews automatically. On Xbox it has to be redeemed within 180 days of the pre-order.^2,3

Physical pre-orders come with the Vintage Vice City Pack, and Rockstar's list for them doesn't include GTA+.¹

Can you use a code from another country?

On PlayStation, a code only works with an account registered in the region it was sold for, and Rockstar lists the countries each region covers. Xbox codes aren't region-locked. Codes sold in Japan expire 170 days after launch.¹

Is GTA 6 online, and is it on PC?

PlayStation calls it a single-player experience, both stores list it for one player, and PlayStation lists offline play.^2,3 No PC version has been announced, and pre-orders are for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.¹ On PlayStation 5 Pro, it's listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced.²

The music

Rockstar has detailed six of the game's radio stations. Cocoteo FM plays modern Latin music, Back Country Radio country, AfroBank FM African music, The Chamber 106.6 metal, Flash FM pop, and Dirty South Classics Southern rap and hip-hop. For the first time, the game also has on-demand podcasts, and Jason and Lucia can listen on foot through earbuds connected to their phones.⁴

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks, comes out on 19 November alongside the game.⁶ Justice's original score follows on 11 December, with 30 tracks.⁵
