What players praise
What players like most.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
The campaign is the best in years.
Players rank it with Modern Warfare (2019), and some above it, for its pace, its variety and the ending of the Task Force 141 story.
DMZ is winning players over.
Players who’ve tried the extraction mode call it a lot of fun, and praise enemies that notice them and react.
It looks and sounds superb.
The graphics and the loud, close-up gun audio draw strong praise.
Battlefield 6
The gunplay feels crisp.
Shooting is responsive and tight, and it’s the most consistently praised part of the game.
It looks and sounds huge.
Explosions and large battles impress, and players single out the soundtrack.
Big squad matches stay fun.
Vehicles, medics and explosions keep players coming back, most of all with friends.
What players criticise
What players complain about.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
The launcher gets in the way.
The game starts through the Call of Duty HQ hub, which restarts it when you switch modes, and players ask for a standalone app.
An anti-cheat check locks out some PCs.
Some PCs with TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot switched on are told to update their BIOS before playing online.
Some find $69.99 a lot for a campaign.
Until multiplayer opens, several buyers find the full price hard to justify for the campaign alone.
Battlefield 6
The store is everywhere.
The battle pass, paid skins and store prompts greet players as soon as the game opens, and many find the prices high for a full-price game.
Maps feel cramped.
Players find few lanes, little room to flank and too little space for vehicles.
Modes were pulled.
Rush, King of the Hill and other modes were removed, and new maps arrive slowly.
It plays closer to Call of Duty.
Fast movement, small arenas and quick deaths lead many veterans to say the series lost its identity.
