SpoilersBosses and areas below are named in full.

The main path

  1. Paris. The game is linear until the first boss, Leon.
  2. Joan and Medusa. You can take them in either order.
  3. The Catacombs. Fight Death, who beats you and summons the castle. Then fight Isaac’s shadow and go in.
  4. The castle opens up. The Main Hall, Library and Clock Tower all connect. Don’t climb too high in the Clock Tower yet, or you get the bad ending.
  5. Talos and Carmilla, then Brauner. Talos in the Clock Tower and Carmilla in the Library can come in either order and give you Slam and Dash. Brauner in the Main Hall needs Slam. Brauner and Carmilla’s brush together open Notre-Dame.
  6. Notre-Dame. Defeat Death for the double jump and the way past the Clock Tower’s trap.
  7. The Clock Tower. Climb it, defeat Isaac, then Dracula, for the normal ending.1

Knowing the solutions lets you skip a lot. If you know the constellations you can skip most of the Library, and with the right melodies you can bypass Notre-Dame.1 The true ending takes more; our endings guide has each step.
